On the Path of the True,

Closest

and Devoted Companions (Sahaba)

of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him:

The models of true loyalty towards the defense of final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are embodied in the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs (Father-in-law Abu Bakr, 632-634; leading advisor Umar ibn Al-Khattab, 634-644; son-in-law Uthman ibn Affan, 644-656; and son-in-law, cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib, 656-661).

Of Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him):

Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the [right] way.

- Qur’an33:4, Al-Ahzab (The Confederates)

And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, "Keep your wife and fear Allah," while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command of Allah accomplished.

- Qur’an33:37, Al-Ahzab (The Confederates)

Of Sa’ad ibn Abi Waqqas:

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.
But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.

- Qur’an 31:14-15, Luq’man (The Wisdom of)

The likes of Abdullah ibn Abbas (Prophet Muhammad’s uncle and inheritance expert), Abu Musa Al-Ashari (a Yemenese who pledged allegiance to Prophet Muhammad in Mecca), Jafar ibn Abi Talib (Prophet Muhammad’s cousin and amongst the first to embrace Islam via Caliph Abu Bakr), Musa ibn Umair (the affluent and noble one who was outcast by his family upon conversion and spread Islam to Yathrib, Madina), or Ubayy ibn Kaab (an Ansari of Khazraj tribe, Badr battle warrior, and scribe of the Prophet and Messenger) (pleasure of Allah be upon them all) were all Qur’an-memorizers (Hafiz) and narrators of authentic sayings (Hadith) of the Messenger.

The mention of Zaid ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him recorded the revelation as the Qur’an which was inspired to Rasulullah via Angel Gabriel (Jibril).

The scholars were the source of stately advices even to the Caliphs Umar.

On the Path of the True Companions

(of Prophet Isa-Jesus, peace be upon him):

The truthful and steadfast disciples sincere companions (Hawariyyun Shamoun as-Safa ibn Hammoun-Simon Peter in Antioch-Antakya Turkey; Philip; Thomas; Barthulmawus-Batholomew, Peter, James, Andrew and Matthew to Ethiopia, Jude, John) of Prophet Isa-Jesus (peace be upon him).

But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah?" The disciples said," We are supporters for Allah. We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].

- Qu’an3:52, Al-’Imran (The Family of Imran)

And [remember] when I inspired to the disciples, "Believe in Me and in My messenger Jesus." They said, "We have believed, so bear witness that indeed we are Muslims [in submission to Allah]."
[And remember] when the disciples said, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, can your Lord send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven? [Jesus] said," Fear Allah, if you should be believers."

- Qur’an5:111-2, Al-Ma’idah (The Table Spread with Food)

O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah, as when Jesus, the son of Mary, said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah?" The disciples said, "We are supporters of Allah." And a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant.

- Qur’an61:14, As-saff (The Rows and Ranks of Battle Arrays)

Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest.

- Qur’an48:18, Al-Fath (The Victory)

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

- Qur’an48:29, Al-Fath (The Victory)

The infidels throughout history persecuted Muslims with the aim to cause Riddah. So they succeed when we fear and turn apostates. Apostacy is not only a mockery of divine guidance, it is simply a loss to one's soul.

In its simplest and most direct terms, Muslims from all schools of thoughts are religiously bound to execute Zakat. This tax or alms is neither based on charity (such as in Ramadhan Zakat al-Fitr) nor economics. It is a social obligation. In fact, in attaining Fanaa', purifying our deeds and modelling righteousness have everything to do with acquiring and disposal of wealth. We will gain rewards in the hereafter for our Waqf dedicated to the spread of useful knowledge or even sheltering of the asnafs. In line with modernity, Takaful has been introduced based on sharia Islamic law. It encourages mutual insurance while abolishing riba' or interest. In similar vein, do we gobble on widespread food during If??r or do we provide for the poor..
